Frame-dragging Effect in Strong Gravity Regime
The exact frame-dragging (or Lense-Thirring (LT) precession) rates for Kerr, Kerr-Taub-NUT (KTN) and Taub-NUT spacetimes have been derived. Remarkably, in the case of the ‘zero angular momentum’ Taub-NUT spacetime, the frame-dragging effect is shown not to vanish, when considered for spinning test gyroscope. In the case of the interior of the pulsars, the exact framedragging rate monotonically ...
متن کاملOptomechanical sensing of spontaneous wave-function collapse.
Quantum experiments with nanomechanical oscillators are regarded as a test bed for hypothetical modifications of the Schrödinger equation, which predict a breakdown of the superposition principle and induce classical behavior at the macroscale. It is generally believed that the sensitivity to these unconventional effects grows with the mass of the mechanical quantum system. Here we show that th...
متن کاملOn Spontaneous Wave Function Collapse and Quantum Field Theory
One way of obtaining a version of quantum mechanics without observers, and thus of solving the paradoxes of quantum mechanics, is to modify the Schrödinger evolution by implementing spontaneous collapses of the wave function. An explicit model of this kind was proposed in 1986 by Ghirardi, Rimini, and Weber (GRW), involving a nonlinear, stochastic evolution of the wave function. We point out ho...
متن کاملTesting spontaneous wave-function collapse models on classical mechanical oscillators.
We show that the heating effect of spontaneous wave-function collapse models implies an experimentally significant increment ΔT(sp) of equilibrium temperature in a mechanical oscillator. The obtained new form ΔT(sp) is linear in the oscillator's relaxation time τ and independent of the mass. The oscillator can be in a classical thermal state, also the effect ΔT(sp) is classical for a wide range...
متن کاملFrame dragging and super – energy
We show that the vorticity appearing in stationary vacuum spacetimes is always related to the existence of a flow of super–energy on the plane orthogonal to the vorticity vector. This result, toghether with the previously established link between vorticity and super–energy in radiative (Bondi–Sachs) spacetimes strength further the case for this latter quantity as the cause of frame dragging.
